“The Golden Land” Arc will be the featured arc in the third season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
Shortly after the second season finale, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End announced that a third season of the fantasy-adventure anime will adapt “The Golden Land” Arc. A teaser image of Macht, the strongest member of the Seven Sages of Destruction, was released. Season 3 will release in October 2027. Details about the casting and staff was not released as of this article’s writing.
Animated and produced by Madhouse, Keiichiro Saito directed the first season with Tomohiro Suzuki writing the scripts and Reiko Nagasawa designing the characters. The second season saw Tomoya Kitagawa replacing Saito as the director with Daiki Harashina as the assistant director and Saito providing support. Evan Call, who composed the soundtrack for Season 1, will return for Season 2. Season 1 launched on September 29, 2023 and has received critical acclaim, winning a few awards during the Crunchyroll Anime Awards including “Best Director” and “Best Drama.”
Atsumi Tanezaki voices Frieren, an elven mage who goes on a journey to understand humanity after the loss of her comrade Himmel. Kana Ichinose voices Fern, a war orphan who later becomes Frieren’s apprentice. Chiaki Kobayashi voices Stark, a timid but strong warrior who serves as the frontline fighter. Yuichi Nakamura portrays Sein, a village priest who is searching for his best friend. Nobuhiko Okamata portrays the human hero Himmel who died after he reunited with Frieren 50 years after they parted.

The adventure is over but life goes on for an elf mage just beginning to learn what living is all about. Elf mage Frieren and her courageous fellow adventurers have defeated the Demon King and brought peace to the land. But Frieren will long outlive the rest of her former party. How will she come to understand what life means to the people around her? Decades after their victory, the funeral of one her friends confronts Frieren with her own near immortality. Frieren sets out to fulfill the last wishes of her comrades and finds herself beginning a new adventure…
