Don’t be fooled by those glasses. That’s not your regular quiet high school student.
Glasses With a Chance of Delinquent has inspired an anime adaptation which will be animated and produced by Studio Flad and Wao World. A teaser PV and two visuals of Momose and Ichikura were also revealed. The teaser PV introduces the main characters with Momose endeared by the quiet and nice bespectacled classmate–only for that illusion to shatter when she realizes he used to be a delinquent back in junior high. Suzuko Hara will voice Hiro Momose and Hiroto Shimizu will portray Dan Ichikura.
Makoto Hoshino will direct with Megumi Shimizu writing the series scripts. Ruriko Watanabe will design the characters.
Written and illustrated by Naruki, Glasses With a Chance of Delinquent launched in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Friend magazine in January 2021 and initially ended nine months later. The series was brought back by popular demand and began serialization once again in June 2022. As of December 2025, the manga has close to a million copies in circulation.
Seven Seas is publishing the manga and describes the story:
Momose has always longed for a peaceful high school life. She wants nothing to do with hoodlums, delinquents, or troublemakers. When she meets Ichikura, an inconspicuous black-haired boy with glasses, he looks like a normal, nice guy. But it turns out that back in junior high he was a nefarious delinquent!
He keeps assuring her that he’s changed his ways, but he’s still pretty quick to pick fights! Has Ichikura really turned over a new leaf? And will Momose keep quiet about his rowdy past?
Glasses With a Chance of Delinquent airs in April 2027.
