Yang Can’t Live Alone to Go On Indefinite Hiatus Due to Mangaka Disputes with Manga UP!

Yang Can’t Live Alone will be leaving Manga UP! due to a breakdown of trust between the creator and publisher.

sooncha, the mangaka behind the romance manga Yang Can’t Live Alone, announced on August 3 that they will be trying to pull their copyright from Manga UP!, but after August 13th when the third volume is published, the manga will no longer be available to read on Manga UP! The reason is due to a breakdown of trust in the relationship between sooncha and publisher due to editorial issues. Once they have reclaimed their rights, sooncha will be looking for another publisher to continue the manga’s serialization. Until then, Yang Can’t Live Alone will be on hiatus.

Manga UP! issued a statement on August 4, confirming the manga’s departure and stating that there had been “shortcoming in how the assigned editor handled the serialization and promotional work.” The publisher stated that they had tried to change the editor in an attempt to restore trust but after discussions with sooncha, the two decided to end the serialization. Manga UP! apologized to both sooncha and readers.

The manga debuted on Manga UP! in December 2024. Square Enix describes the series:

Yuu is as industrious and hardworking as a college student can be, but that means guys tend to find her serious demeanor intimidating. Should she have to change her strong-willed personality to be “number one” in someone’s heart? Yang is a puppy-like Chinese exchange student who wanders into Yuu’s life after she rescues him from a tricky situation. The first volume of the English print will release on September 15. Manga UP! Global publishes the series digitally.
