The penultimate volume of the legendary danmei Legend of Exorcism has revealed its cover.
Publisher Seven Seas Entertainment unveiled the cover for the seventh volume of Legend of Exorcism which features Chong Ming splashed across the cover with Hongjun and Li Jinglong in the middle. Ruthie illustrated the cover for this volume and will also provide the interior artwork. Volume 7 will be the second-to-last volume with Volume 8 coming out next year. Legend of Exorcism was one of the few danmei with a special edition first cover–a testament to its popularity within the danmei fan community. Written by Fei Tian Ye Xiang (Arise Zhang), this high fantasy danmei follows Hongjun a half-yao who has been living a sheltered life up on the mountains for as long as he can remember when one day, he’s tasked to leave home and join the Great Tang Department of Demonic Exorcism in Chang’an. There, he meets Li Jinglong, a soldier who, despite having no spiritual powers, leads a team of talented exorcists. As Hongjun helps Li Jinglong and his team fight against dark forces and the bond between them grows, he begins to wonder if he can trust this yao-hating soldier.
The synopsis for the seventh volume is as follows:
After returning at long last to Chang’an, the exorcists brace for An Lushan’s attack on the city. Li Jinglong lies injured and unconscious, his heart lamp lost, while the six artifacts of Acalanatha have yet to be recovered. As Hongjun and his companions scramble to evacuate the emperor and citizens from the besieged city, it seems no one has the power to stop An Lushan’s monstrous army of demonic soldiers.
Everything hinges on Li Jinglong. If he can’t reawaken the heart lamp before it’s too late, Hongjun will have no choice but to counter An Lushan by becoming the heavenly demon Mara, absorbing all suffering of the mortal world into himself. If Li Jinglong still hopes to save Hongjun from his dark fate, he must return to the beginning of everything—and seek salvation in the forgotten depths of their past.
Legend of Exorcism Vol. 7 comes out on December 15.
