“No one freak out.” We’re sorry, WEBTOON, but we’re all freaking out over here.
WEBTOON previously teased that Omniscient Reader would come back “this fall,” and they were right. And it’s coming back this month. The digital webcomic publisher revealed on their social media page that Season 2 of Omniscient Reader was coming back on November 24. A new visual was also dropped featuring Kim Dokja, Yoo Joonghyuk, and Han Sooyoung. Interestingly, REDICE Studio also announced the Season 2 return and confirmed the November premiere but did not give an exact date.
The webcomic, with artwork done by Sleepy-C, debuted on May 26, 2020 and has been serializing for close to six years with the team rarely taking a hiatus. Season 1 concluded on June 9 with 311 episodes.
Based on a novel written by singNsong, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint follows Kim Dokja who is the only reader who has stuck with the novel Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse for 10 years. When he reaches the ending, Kim Dokja receives a mysterious message from the author. Suddenly, the novel becomes a reality and he must now harness his knowledge of the book to navigate the events and survive. He teams up with the novel’s protagonist Yoo Joonghyuk in the hopes the two may be able to change the original novel’s plot.
A live-action film adaptation was released on July 23, 2025, called Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy, but was met with an overwhelming negative reception, the criticism mainly revolving around the film’s failure to be accurate to the original novel. An anime adaptation was announced back in Anime Expo 2024 but no other information has been announced.
The English translation of ORV can be read on WEBTOON. Published by Ize Press, the manhwa and the webnovel can be read in print.
