Gotta, gotta purchase ‘em all!
Target celebrates three decades of Pokémon with an exclusive 100-plus piece collection — and trainers, get your Pokéwallets ready, you don’t want to miss out on your chance to purchase at least one piece of the retail giant’s exclusive collection… or all of it.
Target announced via press release on April 15, 2026, that it was teaming up with Pokémon to co-create an exclusive, limited-time collection to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary through style, design and fandom — and it’s the only mass retailer in the United States to land that deal. The collection consists of more than 100 items across apparel, accessories, home goods, food and beverage and more — designed for Pokémon fans young and old.
“We know our guests love Pokémon, and we worked with the brand to make this 30th celebration really fun and exciting — even tapping long-time fans within our own team to design it,” Gigi Guerra, vice president, creative curation, Target, is quoted as saying in the PR. “It’s a clear expression of how Target leads with merchandising authority — bringing together our trend expertise and deep fan insights to create what guests are excited about right now, in a way that’s unmistakably and exclusively Target.”
The Pokémon x Target collection drops in two waves: the first batch of roughly 65 items hits retail locations on May 2, 2026, and the retailers webstore on May 3, followed by about 40 more items on June 6. All told, fans are looking at 100-plus products spanning apparel, accessories, home goods, food and beverages and more — though, I’m not sure why the retailer didn’t go the extra mile and include 150 (or 151) products in the line, one for each Pokémon available in the original game.
The lineup leans hard into nostalgia while keeping things fresh. Highlights include a first-of-its-kind Pokémon Starter jacket, a life-size 151-piece puzzles inspired by the original Kanto region, Butterfree hair clips, and kickballs — alongside collabs with throwback brands like Mead (yes, actual Trapper Keepers), Caboodles, Lip Smacker, and Starter, all of which are sure to remind millennials of their first experience with the franchise. The team behind the collection are self-described Pokémon fans themselves, and it shows in the “if you know, you know” details baked into the designs.
Pricing is fan-friendly too — nearly half the assortment comes in under $20, with items starting at $3.50.
“For 30 years, Pokémon has sparked joy, imagination, and connection for all types of fans. This collection is designed to bring that sense of fun and adventure into everyday life, with merchandise that appeals to both longtime Trainers as well as those who recently began their Pokémon journey,” said Amy Sachtleben, senior director of licensing and promotions at The Pokémon Company International. “Target shares our commitment to thoughtful brand stewardship, ensuring the collection authentically captures the spirit of Pokémon while offering a wide range of products that reflects the diverse interests of the community. We can’t wait for Trainers to make this collection their own.”
On the marketing side, Target tapped Pokémon fan-creators Sydeon, SuperDuperDani, PhillyBeatzU, Noah Dankocsik, Lori Haynes, Stephosaurawr, and Aspen to front the campaign alongside longtime fan and pop star Joe Jonas. They’ll appear as real-life Trainers in a custom Pokémon-inspired world across digital, social, and out-of-home placements.
