Run Wild: Sa Ye Evokes Joy and Freedom in Final Volume Cover Reveal

run wild vol 6

From the cold and snowy barrenness of Vol. 1 to the warmth of Vol. 6, Run Wild: Sa Ye has finally reached its conclusion.

Seven Seas revealed the cover for the final volume of Run Wild: Sa Ye, featuring the same trio from Volume 1: Gu Feng, Gu Miao, and Jiang Cheng. Compared to the first volume where the Gu siblings were standing to the side, wary, while Jiang Cheng appeared closed off, the three have wide smiles on their faces, looking more carefree than ever before. Birds soar through the air, fitting the concept of freedom. Tayue Jin illustrated the cover and Ding Yue Rong provides the interior illustrations. amixy and Nande M handled the translation for the series. A new chapter written exclusively for this edition will also be included.

Written by Wu Zhe, Sa Ye follows the story of Jiang Cheng, a youth who is sent to live with his biological father–a deadbeat gambler who emotionally abuses his son. After arriving in the city with all of his worldly belongings packed into a single suitcase, Jiang Cheng runs into Gu Miao and her brother Gu Fei, a teen boy his age who seems to harbor his own dark secrets. As they remain in each other’s orbit, more than friendship blossoms between the unlikely duo.

Sa Ye had a manhua adaptation that abruptly ended at Chapter 146 in February 2025. The popular high school danmei also announced an audio drama, a donghua, and a live-action adaptation with the live-action renaming it to Chasing the Light but both the latter projects have been in a state of forever limbo. However, an overseas drama adaptation was announced with 16 episodes lined up and global casting beginning. Whether or not it will actually air is still up in the air.

Gu Fei might have given up on his relationship with Jiang Cheng, but Jiang Cheng refuses to give up on Gu Miao. But it’s hard, when every message he exchanges with Gu Fei is a heart-wrenching reminder of what he used to have. As Gu Miao starts to make progress with her treatment, Gu Fei may finally allow himself to hope for a better future for her. Does he dare to hope for his own future as well—a life where he can have what he truly wants?

This final volume of Run Wild brings Jiang Cheng and Gu Fei’s tender coming-of-age tale to its close, and features eight bonus chapters after the end of the story—including a brand-new chapter written exclusively for this edition.

Vol. 6 of Sa Ye: Run Wild releases on October 27.
