After the conclusion of Draw This, Then Die!, the production team wasted no time in getting fans ramped up for Season 2.
The social media account for the anime adaptation of Draw This, Then Die! announced that a second season was greenlit. A visual was released, featuring protagonist Yasumi Ai flashing two fingers. A premiere window for Season 2 has not been announced yet as of this article’s writing.
Premiering on July 3, the first season was produced and animated at Shinei Animation and brought in Hiroaki Akagi to direct. Hiroko Fukuda was in charge of series scripts and also wrote the scripts with Aki Itami and Kanichi Kato. Takekazu Segawa oversaw the character designs with Hiroaki Tsutsumi composing the music.
Draw This, Then Die! brought together the voice talents of Akira Sekine, Saori Hayami, Saya Hitomi, Kanon Fujimura, Inori Minase, and Noriko Hidaka as Ai, Rei Teshima, Kokoro Fujimori, Sachi Akafuku, Hikaru Sekiryu, and Pokota, respectively.
Created by Minoru Toyoda, Draw This, then Die! began serialization in Monthly Shonen Sunday in November 2021 and currently has ten tankobon volumes. The manga has been well-received and won the Manga Taisho Award in 2023 and an award at the Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2025.
Seven Seas describes the story:
Yasumi Ai, a first-year high schooler living on the remote island of Izu Ōshima, has one obsession: manga. When she discovers that her long-idolized but reclusive favorite manga creator, Hoshino-sensei, will make a rare appearance at Comitia, Ai doesn’t hesitate—she has to meet her hero. But that single decision sets off a chain of encounters that will shatter her assumptions about art, genius, and what it truly means to create.
The first season can be streamed on Crunchyroll. Seven Seas released the first volume in August.
