Has it been 20 years since Code Geass premiered?
As part of its 20th anniversary, Code Geass is doing a number of events to celebrate this momentous year, and one of them is a new anime called Code Geass Star Chaser Aspal. A teaser trailer was dropped along with a key visual. A synopsis and voice cast was not yet announced. Kazuya Nomura will direct Star Chaser Aspal and Mado Nozaki will oversee the series scripts. Rolua will design the characters and Yoshi. will design the Agarmatha.
Produced by Sunrise, Code Geass premiered on October 6 and ran for 25 episodes for the first season. The second season launched with 25 episodes on April 6, 2008. Afterward, the two seasons were compiled into a three-part film called Initiation, Transgression, and Glorification. A spin-off series called Code Geass: Akito the Exiled aired in July 2013 to February 2016 for five episodes. In February 2019, Code Geass Lelouch of the Re;surrection premiered, and a year later, Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture premiered. Lelouch of the Re;surrection is part of a 10-year plan to release more Code Geass content, according to producer Kojiro Taniguchi.
Exiled Britannian prince Lelouch vi Britannia and his sister Nunnally are sent to Japan as political pawns. One day, he meets a mysterious young woman named C.C. who enacts a contract with Lelouch and grants him Geass which manifests in him the power to command anyone to do anything–but only once and only if he makes direct eye contact. Using his newfound powers, Lelouch vows to find his mother’s murderers and destroy the Britannian Empire.
Widely regarded as one of the best anime series for its plot, storytelling, and voice acting, Code Geass won numerous awards and has been adapted into manga, light novels, and artbooks.
Code Geass Star Chaser Aspal will premiere in 2027.
