BL manga fans have something special to look forward to this November. TOKYOPOP has announced a partnership with Kinokuniya to release an exclusive variant cover edition of Ghoul Work, Kurose Volume 1, the award-winning supernatural BL title from creator takomacho.
The Kinokuniya exclusive edition will be available at the retailer’s North American bookstores and comes with a bonus shikishi artboard illustrated by takomacho—available while supplies last. This special edition is perfect for collectors and fans eager to get their hands on a piece of the buzzworthy series.
Ghoul Work, Kurose took home the Best Next Generation Award at the 2026 Chill Chill BL Awards. The story follows Yuuma Kurose, a quiet high school student who has been haunted by the same recurring nightmare since childhood. When he returns to his grandmother’s hometown, he finds himself drawn to a place from his dreams—a location that holds memories he can no longer recall.
There, he meets Kaito, a strangely devoted classmate surrounded by terrifying spirits. Kaito looks at Yuuma with unwavering devotion and vows, “I swear I’ll protect you… No matter what.” But when the spirits suddenly abandon Kaito and descend upon Yuuma instead, fragments of a forgotten past begin to surface. As the two are drawn together once more, the long-still currents of fate begin to flow again.
The series blends supernatural mystery with blossoming romance, making it a must-read for fans of character-driven BL with a haunting twist.
Both the standard trade paperback and the Kinokuniya exclusive edition of Ghoul Work, Kurose Volume 1 are expected to release on November 17, 2026. The 216-page volume is priced at $14.99.
For those who fall in love with the series, Volume 2 is already slated for release in January 2027.
Fans of supernatural BL won’t want to miss this exclusive opportunity—be sure to mark your calendars and check with Kinokuniya for availability.
