The Long Summer of August 31 Inspires Anime and Drama Adaptation

The timing of the anime and drama adaptation of The Long Summer of August 31 could not have come at a more perfect time.

Announced on August 31 on their X, formerly known as Twitter, page, The Long Summer of August 31 has announced that it has been greenlit for an anime adaptation with SHAFT helming the animation. The manga has also been confirmed for a live-action adaptation. A teaser visual of Takagi waving was released along with mangaka Ikkado Ito’s illustration to celebrate the announcements.

The illustration features both characters with Suzuki turned sideways and looking out from the corner of his eye.

The Long Summer of August 31 was launched in Kodansha’s Morning magazine in 2023 and can be read digitally on K MANGA. Seven Seas publishes the print volume with the sixth volume launching on August 25. The seventh volume is slated for November 10 and the eighth volume slated for February 2, 2027.
