The army cook is cooking up a storm in May.
The Legend of Kitchen Soldier, the drama adaptation of the manhwa Kitchen Soldier, has revealed it will air on May 11 on TVING and tvN, following Yumi’s Cells 3. The drama stars Park Ji-hoon as the eponymous kitchen soldier, Yoon Kyung-ho as Park Jae-young, a sergeant, Han Dong-hee as Cho Ye-rin, the outpost commander, and Lee Hong-nae as Yoon Donghyeon, the head cook at Gangrim Outpost. The drama is produced by Studio Dragon and Studio N.
Kitchen Soldier, written and illustrated by J Robin, is a military comedy series about a young man who enlists in the military for the sole purpose of escaping his reality of a rather desolate household who suddenly rises to become a legendary cook thanks to a virtual question system. In the process of him cooking to feed his fellow soldiers, he starts uncovering the unit’s problems.
Park recently made headlines for starring in The King’s Warden which made history as the highest grossing film in history in Korea. Although he initially started as a model and child actor, Park rose to fame when he became a member of Wanna One after competing in the reality competition series Produce 101. He has since turned his attention to acting and became known for his portrayal of Yeon Si-eun in Weak Hero Class 1 and Weak Hero Class 2, the drama adaptation of the manhwa.
The Legend of Kitchen Soldier has no announcement for an international release. The manhwa does not currently have an English translation.
