Perfect Crown will soon be available to enjoy in another format.
Kakaopage announced that the Kakao-produced drama, Perfect Crown, would be adapted into a webnovel that will release in May. A prequel, the webnovel will contain unreleased stories with the script writer penning the novel. A visual was dropped, showcasing Seong Hui-ju and Prince I-an in a webnovel art style. The drama has received some mixed reviews although the premiere hit the third-highest premiere ratings of any MBC drama airing on Friday and Saturday.

Kakao Entertainment and MBC collaborated to produce the series after Perfect Crown was selected at the 2022 MBC Drama Script Contest. Yoo Ah-in’s script received praise for the storyline and characters. Park Joon-hwa and Bae Hee-young signed on to direct with Yoo Ji-won as the screenwriter. Bibi sang the opening theme “My Pace.”
Casting was revealed in April 2025 with IU and Byeon Wooseok starring as Seong Hui-ju, the second daughter of a chaebol family, and Prince I-an, the second son of a royal family, respectively. Noh Sang-hyun portrayed Min Jeong-woo, the prince’s confidant, and Gong Seong-yeon as Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang, who is determined to make sure Prince I-an will not threaten her youngest son’s position in power.
Set in an alternate reality where Korea is ruled by a constitutional monarchy in the 21st century, the story follows Seong Hui-ju who is frustrated that, despite being born in a rich family, has no power because of her status as an illegitimate child. On the other hand, Prince I-an has status as a member of the royal family but because of internal forces that seek to limit his power, he has nothing but sorrow. Seong Hui-ju he strikes up a deal with I-an to enter a contract marriage so the two can get what they want.
Perfect Crown is currently streaming on Disney+.
