Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint will be coming back this fall.
During WEBTOON’s “Inside WEBTOON Entertainment: What’s Coming Next” panel at NYCC, the digital webcomics platform revealed that Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, the popular fantasy manhwa, will return with the second season sometime in the fall this year. They did not say an exact date at the time of the release and the manhwa’s page on WEBTOON merely promises that it “will return.”
It is also unclear if it will be a simulrelease with the Korean version. The press release merely states:
This highly anticipated action hit will be making its return to WEBTOON this fall. Since its 2020 debut, the Omniscient Reader webcomic has captivated audiences worldwide with over 3 billion global views. The series follows Dokja, an office worker who realizes that his favorite apocalyptic web novel has become reality. Readers can currently catch up on over 300 episodes of Omniscient Reader on WEBTOON before the return.
The webcomic debuted on May 26, 2020 and has been serializing for close to six years with the team rarely taking a hiatus. Season 1 concluded on June 9 with 311 episodes.
Based on a novel written by singNsong, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint follows Kim Dokja who is the only reader who has stuck with the novel Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse for 10 years. When he reaches the ending, Kim Dokja receives a mysterious message from the author. Suddenly, the novel becomes a reality and he must now harness his knowledge of the book to navigate the events and survive. He teams up with the novel’s protagonist Yoo Joonghyuk in the hopes the two may be able to change the original novel’s plot.
A live-action film adaptation was released on July 23, 2025, called Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy, but was met with an overwhelming negative reception, the criticism mainly revolving around the film’s failure to be accurate to the original novel. An anime adaptation was announced back in Anime Expo 2024 but no other information has been announced.
The English translation of ORV can be read on WEBTOON. Published by Ize Press, the manhwa and the webnovel can be read in print.
