Kill or kiss?

Well, if you’re anything like Gero, you might have to do both. The opening theme song for Marriagetoxin was released on Bandai Namco’s YouTube channel, performed by Yurina Hirate. It begins with a display of the various items important to the main characters such as makeup, bottles containing poison and antidotes. Gero carefully slips in the bullets into the inside pocket of his long coat before grabbing a bouquet of red roses while Kinosaki puts on makeup and his dress. The opening theme song showcases Gero’s various potential brides and foes.

Bandai Namco also released the ending theme song, “Shake Na Baby.” The ending theme song focuses more on Kinosaki, showing off his cute sides through pouty expressions and adorable gestures. Gero does make a minor appearance in the form of rough animation sketches.

Joumyaku and Mizuki Yoda’s manga first launched on Shonen Jump+ app and website on April 20, 2022. Viz Media later licensed the series for an English print release.

Hikaru Gero has never known normalcy. Not since he was a child, born into the Poison Clan, one of the Five Great Families of assassins. As the heir to the clan, he has never had any expectations of love or a relationship but the Poison Clan throws down an ultimatum: if he doesn’t get married and produce an heir, they’ll force his sister to do it against her wishes. Desperate, Gero decides to propose to the next person he sees: his target, the marriage swindler Mei Kinosaki who promptly rejects him. It does little to deter Gero who switches gears and asks Kinosaki to train him and help him find a bride—someone who truly loves.

The anime premiered on April 7 and is currently airing on Crunchyroll. The manga can be read on Manga Plus and Viz Media.
