Love doesn’t exist for assassins—or does it?
The second PV for the anime adaptation of Marriagetoxin was released, opening with Hikaru Gero strolling through the bustling streets of Tokyo before it transitions to his real job: an assassin. The PV touches on the various fights fans will be able to see adapted onto the screen as well as the funny moments of Gero trying to make himself marriage material. Yurina Hirate’s opening theme song “Kill or Kiss” opens the PV with AKASAKI closing it with the ending theme song “Shake Na Baby.”
Hikaru Gero has never known normalcy. Not since he was a child, born into the Poison Clan, one of the Five Great Families of assassins. As the heir to the clan, he has never had any expectations of love or a relationship but the Poison Clan throws down an ultimatum: if he doesn’t get married and produce an heir, they’ll force his sister to do it against her wishes. Desperate, Gero decides to propose to the next person he sees: his target, the marriage swindler Mei Kinosaki who promptly rejects him. It does little to deter Gero who switches gears and asks Kinosaki to train him and help him find a bride—someone who truly loves.
Joumyaku and Mizuki Yoda’s manga has caught the attention of numerous mangaka including Demon Slayer‘s Koyoharu Gotouge, Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Gege Akutami, and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury‘s character designer Mogumo.
Bones Film will animate and produce the adaptation with Motonobu Hori helming the series as the director. BONES will supervise the production. Kimiko Ueno will write the script and series composition with Kohei Tokuoka serving as the chief animation director and also designing the characters. Taisei Iwasaki and Yuma Yamaguchi will compose.
Haruki Ishiya will portray Gero with Shion Wakayama as Kinosaki. Voicing the various potential marriage partners are Anna Nagase who will voice Kyoko Himekawa, Mariye Ise as Shizuku Ushio, Asaki Yuikawa as Shiori Ureshino, Soma Saito as Genya Naruko, and Hinano Shirahama as Kimie Arashiyama. Simba Tsuchiya will voice Piichi Nakagawa with Haruka Shiraishi voicing Akari Gero and Isamu Yusen as Toshiki Hanamaki.
Marriagetoxin will premiere on April 7. Information about the platform on which the episodes will air outside of Japan has been limited to Southeast Asia (Muse Communication has licensed the series). The manga is available on Viz Media.
