Kodama Tales has licensed two manga series, one of which is a sequel to one of the publisher’s earliest licenses.
The up-and-coming publisher announced it had licensed New Grappler Baki and The Magical Forest of Hoshigahara. New Grappler Baki is one of the sequels that follow Baki the Grappler and The Magical Forest of Hoshigahara is a fantasy slice-of-life tale. Kodama revealed two volumes of New Grappler Baki and The Magical Forest of Hoshigahara will release in November.
New Grappler Baki, written and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki, was first serialized from 1999 to 2005. The original series follows seventeen-year-old Baki Hanma who travels the world in the hopes that he may become the most powerful fighter in the world and finally beat his father in a marital arts match. The sequel follows his attempts to have a normal teenage life but it gets disrupted when five death row inmates escape from prison.
Written and illustrated by Hisae Iwaoka, The Magical Forest of Hoshigahara is centered around a large forest that, unbeknownst to children who fear it, houses a man who lives with adorable spirits. The series contains five volumes.
These two titles will release in November this year.
