Manta Announces Global Release for Under the Greenlight Creator’s Latest BL

Who’s ready to put on their cowboy hats and ride off into the sunset? JAXX’s next work will have people yeehaw-ing.

Manta revealed that it will simulrelease JAXX’s next BL manhwa called Song of the Wasteland. The teaser shows a mysterious cowboy riding on a horse. This will be a global release and the English translation will be exclusive to Manta. The manhwa will drop on the platform on June 30 at 9 AM PST. Ridi will release it a little earlier on June 30 at 10 PM KST. The first episode preview will drop on June 23 but it is unclear if the same preview chapter will be available on Manta.

The creator did not reveal much about the synopsis but did post a character sketch on April 3 on their Instagram which showcased one of the characters working out, although his phone does cover his face.

JAXX is known for being the artist of Walk on Water which was written by Jang Mokdan and creator behind Under the Greenlight. Both works have garnered millions of views in total and have been a fan-favorite BL author for their complex characters and artwork. The announce of Song of the Wasteland has generated a lot of excitement from fans who have been waiting for the creator’s next work.

Walk on Water, a story about a security guard who ends up starring in gay porn, launched on Lezhin on October 21, 2021 and finished with 62 chapters and two side stories on November 20, 2022. Under the Greenlight, which follows a sculpture student who finds his muse in a violent gang member, debuted on May 22, 2021 on Tapas with Season 1 concluding on March 22, 2022 with 37 episodes. The second season, called Under the Greenlight: In Dreams, premiered on November 19, 2023 and concluded with 41 episodes on December 8, 2024. The creator has also revealed that they are working on side stories for Under the Greenlight.

Song of the Wasteland will debut on Manta on June 30.
