Legendary BL Mangaka to Illustrate The Husky and His White Cat Shizun Manga

The artist for the manga adaptation of The Husky and His White Cat Shizun has been revealed.

The manga adaptation was first announced on August 6 with silhouettes of Chu Wanning and Mo Ran. The social media account hyped up the adaptation by doing a countdown to the artist announcement which was revealed on August 16. Ayano Yamane, the mangaka best known for Finder, will illustrate the manga adaptation of The Husky and His White Cat Shizun. Nanao Takaoka will be in charge of the storyboard.

A preview of the comic print will drop on August 28 before becoming available on September 17. The cover and chapter release will arrive in print on October 28 with the digital releasing on November 19. Serialization begins in December in the monthly BL magazine Be x Boy. Finder is also serialized in that magazine.

Ayano Yamane needs no introduction. Debuting in 1996, it wasn’t until she published Finder in 2002 that she made more of a name for herself. The manga follows a freelance photographer who gets himself caught in the shady underworld when he captures photos of a crime lord, thus beginning a complicated relationship fraught with danger, lust, and budding romance. She has also written and illustrated A Foreign Love Affair, and Crimson Spell. An anime adaptation, drama CD adaptation, and light novel adaptation have been released. Finder is published by SuBLime in English.

The Husky and His White Cat Shizun is a danmei novel series written by Rou Bao Bu Chi Rou (Meatbun) and follows the entangled lives of Mo Ran and his shizun Chu Wanning. After the violent and volatile emperor Taxian-jun dies, he unexpectedly finds himself transported back to his 15-year-old self Mo Ran. Brimming with hatred for his cold-hearted shizun Chu Wanning, Mo Ran vows to make it his mission to make Chu Wanning’s life a misery. However, much to his distress and despite his attempts of ignoring it, Mo Ran can’t help but see his shizun’s actions and expressions in a different light and see that his aloof catlike shizun may not be as cold and cruel as he appears.

The novel has enjoyed an audio drama adaptation, a manhua adaptation that has not been updated for some time, and a live-action drama adaptation that has been trapped in pre-production for years. Seven Seas published the novel series.
