HYBE is bringing K-Pop to the big screen—and a familiar face is leading the charge.
At CinemaCon 2026, Paramount Pictures and HYBE America announced the official title of their long-in-development K-pop film: K-Pop Superstar: The Movie, starring Jiyoung Yoo—the voice of Zoey and breakout star of the Oscar-winning animated hit KPop Demon Hunters.
The film follows a young Korean American woman who defies her family’s wishes to compete in a televised competition for a spot in a K-Pop girl group. Director Benson Lee (Seoul Searching) describes it as “my love letter to K-Pop—its energy, passion, magic, and the incredible community behind it.”
It’s expected to be the first major American studio film shot entirely in South Korea.
She joins a cast that includes singer-songwriter Eric Nam, Oldboy‘s Yoo Ji-tae, Spider-Man‘s Tony Revolori, and XO, Kitty‘s Gia Kim, among others.
The project has been in development since 2020, originally set up at 20th Century Studios before moving to Paramount.
K-Pop Superstar: The Movie hits North American theaters on February 12, 2027—Presidents’ Day/Valentine’s Day weekend.
