The film became a Netflix sensation in 2025, enjoyed a successful theatrical release, and won two Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Golden”.

The director-approved special edition features:
- New 4K digital master, approved by Kang and Appelhans, with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack
- One 4K UHD disc in Dolby Vision HDR and two Blu-rays with the film and special features
- Full feature-length animatic with a new introduction by the directors
- New making-of documentary
- Two video essays by filmmakers Taylor Ramos and Tony Zhou of Every Frame a Painting
- Lyric videos and the original trailer
- Collectible postcards featuring original illustrations by artists who worked on the film
- An essay by critic Karen Han
The release features new cover art by Ami Thompson, with a sleek anime-style rendering of the HUNTR/X protagonists alongside Derpy, the clumsy, blue supernatural tiger .
KPop Demon Hunters joins a growing list of Netflix films in the Criterion Collection, including Marriage Story, The Irishman, and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio. The November 3 release marks the film’s first physical-media availability, loaded with bonus features for fans and collectors alike. Pre-orders are available now.
