Just in time for the month of love, Her Tale of Shim Chong will release in February 2027.
Inklore revealed the cover for the first volume of the girls’ love manhwa, Her Tale of Shim Chong. The cover features Chancellor Jang’s bride-to-be whose hair is getting put up in an elaborate style by someone. Lotus flower petals decorate the title. Although the person helping Lady Jang cannot be seen, in a previous announcement, the person is Shim Chong. The first volume bundles the first 13 chapters of the webcomic.
Written by seri and illustrated by biwan, Her Tale of Shim Chong launched on WEBTOON on March 27, 2025 and concluded with 81 chapters of the main story and three side stories. The series has garnered 1.4 million views as of this article’s writing. The manhwa was awarded with “Today’s Our Manhwa Award” by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Korea back in 2018.

Based on a Korean folktale, two very different women find themselves making the same wish – to leave this world behind. One is Shim Chong, a young beggar living off the kindness of others to support herself and her blind father. The other is the bride-to-be of old Chancellor Jang, sold off to him for the sake of her family. When Shim Chong rescues this new bride from the river, their relationship triggers both love and hidden intentions. But will these two women be able to find their way forth in a world that favors men?
