The King of the Monsters has a new stomping ground—and it’s a storybook village.
Toho International and Penguin Young Readers have released Godzilla Stomp!, a hardcover picture book that plops Godzilla right in the middle of a fairy tale island where everything is going according to plan. The Gingerbread Man is visiting the Muffin Man. Little Red Riding Hood is on her way to grandmother’s. Cinderella is preparing for the ball.
Then Godzilla shows up.

Aimed at readers ages 4–8, the book is written by Katherine Locke and illustrated by Emmy-winning artist Nikolas Ilic. Penguin describes it as a Godzilla starter kit “for anyone who loves a bit of chaos in their fairy tales,” drawing comparisons to Don’t Trust Fish and The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs. Kirkus Reviews praised its “comedic appetite for destruction” and “giggles galore.”
Locke is an award-winning author whose work spans picture books (What Are Your Words?, Bedtime for Superheroes), middle-grade (This Is Our Rainbow, Gender Rebels), and YA (This Rebel Heart, Loki: Journey into Mystery). Ilic, a Toronto native now in Los Angeles, works across animation and children’s books, with credits at HarperCollins, Random House, Simon & Schuster, and more.
The release arrives as Toho continues expanding Godzilla’s 70-year legacy across toys, gaming, apparel, publishing, and beyond—with 30 live-action films and more content on the horizon.
Godzilla Stomp! is available now wherever books are sold. For parents hoping to introduce the King of the Monsters to a new generation—or anyone who appreciates a picture book that delivers both giggles and destruction—this one’s a stomp in the right direction.
