Legend of Exorcism was one of the few danmei with a special edition first cover–a testament to its popularity within the danmei fan community. Written by Fei Tian Ye Xiang (Arise Zhang), this high fantasy danmei follows Hongjun a half-yao who has been living a sheltered life up on the mountains for as long as he can remember when one day, he’s tasked to leave home and join the Great Tang Department of Demonic Exorcism in Chang’an. There, he meets Li Jinglong, a soldier who, despite having no spiritual powers, leads a team of talented exorcists. As Hongjun helps Li Jinglong and his team fight against dark forces and the bond between them grows, he begins to wonder if he can trust this yao-hating soldier.
The synopsis of the eighth and final volume is as follows:
Deep in the freezing Zoigê Highlands, Hongjun and Li Jinglong close in on the last of Acalanatha’s six artifacts, the Thunderbolt Arrow. Without it, the exorcists have no hope of ending Mara once and for all. But the mountains hide more than ancient powers: When they encounter new enemies on their quest, Hongjun is separated from Li Jinglong and the Department of Exorcism.
As the rest of the exorcists race toward the final reckoning in Luoyang, Hongjun has no time to wait for rescue. To protect both humans and yao alike, he must take control of his own destiny and lead his people, whatever the price. Yet there’s still one mystery left to solve if they are to bring peace to the Divine Land—and unless the exorcists can unravel it, they may be rushing toward their doom.
The final volume comes out on April 13, 2027.
