Firefly Wedding will premiere sometime in October.
A teaser video for the upcoming anime adaptation of the historical romance manga also announced the voice cast for the main characters and the staff working on the series. The teaser image opens with Satoko admiring the flowers and her comfortable little world gets shattered upon the arrival of Shinpei, an assassin who has no qualms about taking lives and in fact, seems to relish the thrill. Desperate, Satoko proposes to Shinpei and to her surprise… he accepts!
Lynn will voice Satoko Kirigaya and Koki Uchiyama will portray Shinpei Goto. Lynn has voiced Miyako Saito in Oshi no Ko, Ayano Yugiri in Engage Kiss, and Miorine Rembran in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury. Uchiyama voiced Kei Tsukishima in Haikyuu!!, Tomura Shigaraki in My Hero Academia, and Toge Inumaki in the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen.
David Production will animate and produce the adaptation with Takahiro Kamei directing and Yuko Kakihara writing the script. Yukiko Aikei will design the characters and NOGRID will compose the music.

Written and illustrated by Oreco Tachibana, Firefly Wedding began serialization on January 1, 2023 with the main story concluding on February 2, 2026. The story will continue in seven spin-off chapters that will publish until August 3. The chapters were published in English digitally by Comikey.
The manga has three million copies in circulation as of September 2025 and was nominated for the 48th Kodansha Manga Awards and 71st Shogakukan Manga Award.
Viz’s synopsis for Firefly Wedding is as follows:
On the surface, Satoko has it all—she’s beautiful, the daughter of a nobleman, and at a prime age for marriage. Unfortunately, she is also quite ill and only has a short time left to live. Before she can secure a marriage that will redeem her worth in her family’s eyes, she finds herself the target of the mysterious assassin Shinpei, and her plans are put in jeopardy. In order to save herself, she makes a desperate proposal—of marriage! When it comes to love, however, Shinpei takes “until death do we part” seriously.
