Mika Pikazo’s long-running doujinshi project finally makes the leap to TV, with a special AX debut and exclusive mini-booklets for attendees.
Nearly a decade after its humble beginnings as a self-published doujinshi, Mika Pikazo’s RE:BEL ROBOTICA is officially becoming a TV anime. The near-future sci-fi series, set in the Shibuya of 2050, will make its first major public appearance at Anime Expo 2026—complete with a teaser trailer screening, an exhibition booth, and a panel event featuring the acclaimed illustrator herself.
From Doujinshi to Anime
RE:BEL ROBOTICA began in 2017 as a personal project by Mika Pikazo, one of today’s most sought-after illustrators—known for the Disney Collection by Mika Pikazo and character design for Nintendo’s Fire Emblem Engage. The project later expanded with screenwriter Ryo Yoshigami (PSYCHO-PASS series) for Episode #β (Beta), followed by two novelizations in 2022 written by Gakuto Mikumo.
Now, the story of humans and “ROBOTICA”—beings created in humanity’s likeness to bring happiness—is coming to the screen with an all-new original story expanding upon the world Pikazo first envisioned.
New Key Visual and Comment from Mika Pikazo
To mark the announcement, Pikazo has unveiled an exclusive key visual featuring the enigmatic girl Lily, smiling as she reaches toward the viewer. She also shared a personal message:
“Ever since childhood I have been captivated by the question of happiness—what it means to live amid duty and constraint—and I created this work out of a wish to discover something within this world. Through its endearing characters and the lives of the many people who appear in it, the work gives expression to both hope and a sense of the uncanny. I do hope you will look forward to the original anime ‘RE:BEL ROBOTICA’!!”
