Two BL novels will no longer be available to read in English.
WordExcerpt has announced that they will no longer be publishing the Korean BL webnovels Kiss Me, Liar and its spinoff Kiss Me If You Can. The novels have been removed from WordExcerpt and their other platforms as of this article’s writing. The translations for these novels were not finished before WordExcerpt underwent a company overhaul and subsequently went on hiatus.
According to WordExcerpt, the license had expired “due to legal matters beyond control. In compliance with applicable laws, the titles will be removed from official platforms as we review the possibility of renewing the license.”
Kiss Me, Liar was also on Tappytoon and launched on April 14, 2024. While it is still on the platform, it is listed as “not available,” however those who have already purchased the available chapters will still be able to access them. Kiss Me If You Can is still on Inkfiles as of this article’s writing, but will likely be removed in the near future after “ensuring that previously purchased chapters remain accessible to users on their platform.”
Written by ZIG, the omegaverse BL Kiss Me, Liar was released in 2017 and follows Yeonwoo, a beta-turned-omega secretary who works under his boss Keith, an extreme alpha. Despite how callously Keith treats him, Yeonwoo can’t quit his job–not only because of the good pay but because he’s secretly in love with Keith.
Released in 2018, Kiss Me If You Can follows Josh who works as famous actor Chase Miller’s bodyguard. But Josh is hiding a secret: not only is he not an alpha that everyone assumed he was, he slept with Chase years ago and his son Pete… is also Chase’s. As Josh tries to hide Pete’s parentage from Chase, he discovers that the actor is no longer the same man he once knew.
There have been no news on potential platforms or publishers for either of those novels. Both novels inspired manhwa adaptations with Kiss Me, Liar on Tapas and Kiss Me If You Can on Lezhin.
