TWICE’s Tzuyu Reportedly Courted by Chinese Agencies as SEF Issues Caution

Taiwanese TWICE member Tzuyu is reportedly being courted by entertainment agencies in Beijing as she broadens her career horizons following her rumored departure from JYP Entertainment.

Earlier this year, there were whispers that Tzuyu will choose not to renew her exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment and sign under her parents’ agency to pursue solo activities. According to a report from the Taipei Times, powerhouses in Beijing have expressed interest in helping the idol develop her career in mainland China.

Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) Secretary General Luo Wen-jia issued a warning to Tzuyu against yielding to political pressure. Luo was quoted as saying: “Artists who have entered the Chinese market can have their work abruptly halted if they do not comply with political demands, while those who cooperate are rewarded with greater market access.”

Whether Tzuyu pursues activities in mainland China remains to be seen. The SEF’s warning reflects ongoing tensions around Taiwanese artists working in China’s entertainment industry. For now, the idol’s next move remains unclear.
