Tapas may be shutting down, but fans of The Beginning After the End need not wait long to read and reread their favorite tale.
TurtleMe, the creator behind The Beginning After the End, revealed that following the successful Kickstarter campaign with Rocketship, the print version of the first volume of TBATE novel will debut on May 18, 2027. The Kickstarter for the first three volumes included a standard softcover bundle option and a deluxe hardcover bundle that had a projected delivery date of August 2026.
The synopsis on Barnes and Nobles for TBATE reads:
The Beginning After the End follows the story of King Grey who once benefited from unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability, but now finds himself reborn in a society dominated by magic. Given a second chance at life, the once-king strives to understand his role in this new world and the purpose of his reincarnation while correcting the mistakes of his past.
The inspiration for The Beginning After the End came from TurtleMe’s (real name, Brandon Lee) love for fantasy stories including Mushoku Tensei and Eragon. As a way to escape from the mundanity of his corporate job, he began writing the story and uploaded it on Royalroad. He made the transition to Tapas when an editor reached out. The webnovel has since moved to Kindle Unlimited on February 5.
The webnovel was adapted into a webcomic in July 2018 which has garnered more than 53.6 million views since. The comic adaptation has gone through some changes with Fuyuki23 leaving the series at the end of Season 5 due to payment negotiations falling through. MGK-Story has been the artist for Season 6 since.
The Beginning After the End was available to read on Tapas until it was removed on February 7, 2026. The ebook can be read on Kindle.
