Seven Seas Licenses Ultraman by Kazuo Umezz – The Classic Manga Collection

In celebration of Ultraman‘s 60th anniversary, Seven Seas had a special surprise for fans.

The publisher announced that it had licensed Ultraman by Kazuo Umezz- The Classic Manga Collection. This manga marks the first time the superhero ever appeared in a manga. While Umezz is known for his horror works such as The Drifting Classroom and Reptilia, this first collection is what paved the way for more Ultraman manga to come.

Umezz was planning a new work when he collapsed at home in July 2024 and was diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer. He died in October and was 88 years old.
