GameY, a Korean gaming site, listed an Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint game would be coming out in 2027 which is when the anime adaptation will also be released. Official sites for the anime adaptation have not confirmed whether these reports are true, so it remains unclear if fans will finally get to see the story come to life.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint was first announced for an anime adaptation back at Anime Expo in 2024, causing a wave of excitement and anticipation amongst the story’s huge fanbase. After the success of Solo Leveling‘s anime adaptation, many were looking forward to seeing Kim Dokja’s story in a different iteration.
Unfortunately, that was the last news fans heard about the anime adaptation. At the time of the announcement, there was no reveal of the studio, production staff, nor voice cast. The only tidbit of information there was was that Crunchyroll would stream it. The lack of news was so resounding, it left fans doubting whether the anime would ever make its way out into the public.
As a result, the sudden announcement of the anime set for release as early as 2027 has raised eyebrows on the legitimacy of the report, especially since any details on the adaptation have not come out.
In the meantime, the absence of the anime made way for the live-action film adaptation which was renamed to Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy. Produced by Munpia and Realize Pictures, Kim Byung-woo helmed the film as the director and Won Dong-yun as the producer with Ahn Hyoseop and Lee Minho starring as Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk. Premiering on July 23, 2025, the film left a sour taste in viewers’ mouths with much of the criticism directed at the lack of cohesion and faithfulness to the original source material. Although the contract between Munpia and Realize Pictures stipulates a five feature-length film, as well as other projects, a sequel to the live-action has not yet been announced (and maybe it should stay that way…).
