Mignon Creator Teases Side Story With Spicy Image
Bboong Bbang Kkyu, the creator behind the widely-praised original BL animation Mignon, is teasing a side story.
The popular BL animation Mignon will return with a side story.
As teased by the creator Bboong Bbang Kkyu, Mignon will have a side story. The creator dropped a teaser image of the protagonist, Dr. Oh Youngwon, seemingly “suffering.” Bboong Bbang Kkyu did not reveal if there were going to be more than one side story nor the release, but fans immediately rushed to the comments to express how excited they were to see their favorite characters returning.
Produced by ABJ Company and directed and written by Bboong Bbang Kkyu, Mignon debuted on Aug. 11, 2023 and quickly became popular with fans praising the animation quality, voice acting talent, and the creator’s ability to tell a compelling story in only 12 short five to ten minute vignettes. The series remained on Vimeo until Aug. 23 when ABJ company revealed the BL animation would not be available for purchase as of Aug. 24 “due to issues with the creator’s former agency.”
Mignon is a fantasy series centred around an illegal boxing arena where a young rising boxer named Mignon fights battles every night. His injuries are cared for by a mysterious and handsome doctor who has, so far, brushed aside Mignon’s open affection. However, the boxer discovers the doctor is hiding an enormous secret about his identity. Oh Minhyeok voices Mignon while Kim Minju voices Oh Youngwon, the doctor.
Bboong Bbang Kkyu first rose to popularity when they released their first animation titled Hyperventilation in 2017 which consisted of six three-minute episodes. The tale, consisting of two high school classmates who reunites ten years later, was later adapted into a web novel in 2020. A manhwa has also been published.
Their next work, Unbelievable Space Love, released one year later. The series contained more episodes but of a shorter run time, approximately a minute for each of the 10 episodes. The story follows two nameless men who meet on a beach with one of them recounting a story of how they met.
After the dissolving of its streaming agreement, Mignon moved to Laftel on Nov. 1, but this has unfortunately made it impossible for international viewers to access it.
