MAPPA is stepping back into the romcom genre.
As part of its 15th anniversary line-up, Studio MAPPA revealed that it would produce an anime adaptation of Fall in Love, You False Angels. A teaser trailer with a gentle piano melody was dropped, revealing the character designs of the two main characters. That gentle music was all a facade as the song switches to a more upbeat soundtrack, demonstrating the switch in personalities from Otogi and Toki. The voice actors have not been announced yet.
Yasutomo Okamoto will direct the adaptation. Okamoto has worked on a number of different Studio MAPPA works which includes being an episode director of God of High School, Dorohedoro, Zombie Land Saga Revenge. This will be their first work as a director. Mariko Oka designed the characters. .Yohei. Yamazaki will serve as the series script supervisor. Takumi Hashimoto will be the art director.
Written and illustrated by Coco Uzuki, Fall in Love, You False Angels debuted in Kodansha’s Dessert in April 2023 and won the Kodansha Manga Award in the shojo category in 2025 and nominated for the 71st Shogakukan Manga Award. The fifth volume will come out on June 23 in English. The manga currently has seven volumes in print.

Kodansha publishes the volume digitally and in print. The anime adaptation premieres in 2027.
