KPop Demon Hunters Takes Home Three Awards at iHeart Radio Awards

The KPop Demon Hunters trio won “Best Duo/Group of the Year” at the iHeart Radio Awards on March 26. The singing group composed of EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, took home the award. Their hit single “Golden” also won “K-pop Song of the Year” and the soundtrack as a whole won “Favorite Soundtrack” which is a socially voted category. KPop Demon Hunters was nominated for a total of five awards, including “Pop Song of the Year” and “Best Lyrics,” the latter of which are voted by the fans.

KPop Demon Hunters previously won “Best Animated Feature” at the Academy Awards with “Golden” earning the “Best Original Song.” The “Best Animated Feature” award marked the first time South Koreans won in that category, and “Golden’s” win made history as the first K-Pop song to win an Academy Award.

EJAE, the singing voice for Rumi, also won her first Grammy on February 1 when the song won “Best Song Written for Visual Media.” The single also won a Golden Globe with the film taking the win for “Best Animated Motion Picture.”

“Golden” has been breaking records since making its debut on June 20. The first female K-Pop group to ever be number one, it held the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for eight consecutive weeks. The single was also number 1 on the US Spotify daily chart.

Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, KPop Demon Hunters is a celebration of Korean culture and music with its story about three demon hunters who protect humanity through their voices. Rumi, Mira, and Zoey (voices by Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo, respectively) are this generation’s Demon Hunters and are also the world’s hottest K-Pop group called Huntr/x. The only way to prevent the demons from escaping from the underworld is by creating a powerful barrier called the Honmoon but first, they have to fight off a powerful demon boy band called the Saja Boys.

KPop Demon Hunters is streaming on Netflix with a sequel set for 2029.
