Necromancer meets astronomer in this beautiful webcomic.
Kaiju, the pen name behind the duo consisting of Jennifer Xu and Kate Rhodes, announced on their social media pages that their romantasy BL webcomic Novae has been licensed for at least three volumes in print. Inklore will publish their series with Sara Miller editing. The first volume will release in summer 2028.
The webcomic follows a necromancer and an astronomer whose paths cross when they discover the cosmos together and must work together to figure out why dark magic has appeared again when a dead astronomer is found at the Academy of Sciences. The story was initially posted on their website before moving to WEBTOON Canvas. The first episode launched on August 28, 2017 and has since surpassed 74 million views as of this article’s publishing.
The duo was thrilled about the print license and celebrated the announcement on their website:
That’s right, the first 3 graphic novels (possibly more) are gonna be printed by Inklore, the publisher for Lore Olympus, Under the Oak Tree, and many other amazing titles! The webcomic will continue to be available online in all forms. The books will be published one after the other (probably 6 months apart) starting in summer 2028. We’re already in the process of getting the files ready for print! Inklore has an amazing team, and we can’t wait to polish this book together with them.
This is a dream come true and we can’t believe the excitement Novae received when it went on submission, many editors had already read it online and Novae ended up going to auction, which was something we NEVER thought could happen. It was such a wild experience and we feel so incredibly grateful for the response.
