It’s official. Wait For Me After School is coming to readers in English.
After dropping a teaser back in April which consisted of a snapshot of a page with all but the names Yu Fan and Chen Jingshen, the main characters of the modern high school danmei Wait For Me After School, scrubbed out, Hai Tang Books has confirmed its license acquisition. The publisher dropped a promotional image, illustrated by @/JulianLynnnn, that features Chen Jingshen gently touching the bruised cheek of Yu Fan. Hai Tang Books said the series would release in 2027 although it’s unclear if it will be for the first volume or multiple volumes.
Written by Jiang Zi Bei, Wait For Me After School begins with a love letter enclosed in a pink envelope. Yu Fan, the class delinquent who spends most of his time sleeping in class, is shocked to be the recipient of a love letter written by the school’s top student Chen Jingshen. Despite Yu Fan’s rejection, Chen Jingshen is stubborn and continues to confess to him, clinging to him with a surprising tenacity despite his emotionless expressions. But the two come from very different upbringings. Will that drive them apart or will they be able to push past those obstacles to finally be together?
Wait For Me After School was published in 2022 and contains 92 chapters and four extras. The danmei was adapted into an audio drama with two seasons on MissEvan. It is unclear how many volumes the novel will be in and if Hai Tang Books will have an exclusive chapter as they have had for their other series.
Hai Tang Books has also published Jiang Zi Bei’s other works which includes Guide on How to Fail at Online Dating and I Can Do It.
Wait For Me After School comes out in 2027.
