A second teaser for Fool Night has revealed that the new anime will premiere in November.
The trailer opens with Kamiya making the decision to undertake a dangerous experiment after discovering that there isn’t anything he enjoys about life. The teaser gives a little more insight into the dangers of transfloration: the person cannot move their limbs, their physical body out of their control while their mind is able to feel the plant feeding on their body. Kamiya is only intent on waiting it out: two more years and then he’ll be free.
Atsushi Yukawa will direct the series with Jin Tanaka as the series composition writer. Yota Tsuruoka will be the sound director with Tatsuya Kato composing the music. Robert Sato will design the characters.
The voice viewers heard would be a familiar one for many anime fans. Koki Uchiyama (My Hero Academia, Haikyuu!!, and Oshi no Ko Season 2) will take on the leading role of Toshiro Kamiya. Minako Kotobuki (Tower of God Season 2, Sparks of Tomorrow, and Sound! Euphonium 3) will portray Yomiko Horai, Toshiro’s friend who helps him turn into a plant. Junya Enoki will portray Akira Yatsuka, Aya Endo will voice Saeko Kanaeno, and Kiyomitsu Mizuuchi will portray Jin Hiragishi.
Known for its avante-garde cinematography, Shaft has animated and produced Monogatari, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and March Comes In Like a Lion. Sunrise has animated and produced numerous critically acclaimed series including the Gundam series, Inuyasha, Code Geass, and City Hunter.
Viz Media’s synopsis can be read below:
Kamiya is at the end of his rope. His mother is ill, and his job barely pays for her medication, much less food. With few options left, he considers the life-changing process of transfloration. Ready to give his body up for a payday, Kamiya is about to explore the limits of society’s waning humanity.
