Smilegate and developer Super Creative have launched Season 4 of Chaos Zero Nightmare (CZN), titled “Shattered Light and Claw”. The update introduces a new story arc, the combatant Hilde, an outfit system, and several gameplay additions.
The season follows an investigation into disappearances targeting strategic assets called “Protos.” Players encounter a new Protos named Anis during the investigation, leading to a new chain of events . A new Chaos area, Kaleidoscope Hatchery, has been added alongside a Supply Store offering character acquisition currency and growth items.
Hilde and her partner Eunie join the roster as an Instinct Attribute “Ranger” combatant. Hilde generates “Homing Arrow” cards to enable extra attacks or support allies’ card draw. Eunie boosts attack and extra attack damage for the assigned combatant.
Two additional combatants, Arabella and Olga, will arrive later in the season at roughly three-week intervals. Arabella wields a whip-like flexible blade, while Olga fights with a massive scythe.
The update introduces an Outfit system, allowing players to change a combatant’s appearance while unlocking exclusive voice lines and additional story content. Heidemarie and Sereniel are the first combatants to receive outfits, with more planned for future updates.
The update also adds a Growth Guide to provide personalized progression recommendations and a Build Preset system for saving and recreating specific Save Data setups during roguelike gameplay .
Two seasonal events are running through September 30: the “Beach Café Festival” offers a summer story, save data background, Rei’s Outfit, and stickers in exchange for event currency. The “Following the Fox’s Footsteps” event focuses on Hilde and Eunie, offering crystals and prism lenses. A Season 4 Check-in Event also provides character acquisition and growth currency.
Chaos Zero Nightmare is available free-to-play on PC, iOS, and Android.
