Azure Spring, the manhwa-based drama, has finally released its first trailer, a few weeks before its premiere.
MBN Drama dropped the trailer for the diver drama, opening with Anna, played by Red Velvet’s Yeri, crying as she touches her injured shoulder, knowing that her sports career has effectively ended. She moves to her mother’s hometown and meets Deok Hyeon, portrayed by Kang Sang-jun, a former special forces soldier who has been ostracized by everyone in the hometown due to rumors swirling about around him being a “murderer.”
Two key visuals were also released with Deok Hyeon and Yeri sleeping under a warm sun and the two meeting, perhaps for the first time, against a beautiful sky-blue backdrop.
Azure Spring follows Deok Hyeon, a person unable to move on from the past, and Anna, a job seeker anxious about the future. Both characters struggle to move forward in life until they become divers—haenyeo and haenam—relying solely on their own strength as they discover new purpose beneath the waves. The drama explores healing, self-discovery, and the courage it takes to begin again.
Written by Jang Deok-hyeon, Azure Spring initially launched on Lezhin Comics in August 2014. There is currently no official English translation for the webcomic.
The drama premieres on MBN Plus on May 11 and for MBN on May 15.
