I never thought I’d live to see the day that Here U Are gets turned into an anime adaptation.

At Crunchyroll’s panel at Anime Expo, the streaming platform unveiled its slate of upcoming animated adaptations and one of them was an adaptation of the BL manhua Here U Are. An official teaser was released and begins with Yu Yang stumbling onto Li Huan playing the piano in the music room, Li Huan as a freshman and being standoffish before eventually opening up to Yu Yang who hides his painful past behind a cheerful smile. A key visual was also released.

Studio Rouseact will animate and produce the adaptation with Tomoe Makino directing. Aiki Kawamura will work on the series composition with Asami Hayakawa designing the characters. Shinya Kiyozuka will compose the music.

As heard in the trailer, the adaptation has already found its voice actors for the two leads with Yuki Inoue voicing Yu Yang and Ryota Suzuki taking on the role of Li Huan.

Written by D JUN between 2017 to 2020, the sweet slice-of-life manhua has amassed 27.5 million views on WEBTOON as of this article’s writing and contains 134 episodes. The creator also included a new illustration of Li Huan and Yu Yang to celebrate the anime announcement.

Publisher Aloha Comics describes the story:

Sophomore Yu Yang is a real treasure. He has a cheerful, easy-going, and emphatic personality. Seniors look up to him, and he knows how to stand up for himself. Freshman Li Huan is moody and taciturn, haughty and, at times, outright rude. How will these two manage to get along, and where will it lead them..?

Aloha Comics releases the print version of the manhua. WEBTOON has the digital license and has, for some inexplicable reason, localized the story and names in Korean.

Crunchyroll will stream the anime but has not yet revealed when the adaptation will release.
