To Be Hero X Reveals bilibili and Aniplex Co-Production

bilibili and Aniplex have announced they will joint produce the original donghua To Be Hero X.

Originally announced at the Made by Bilibili 2022-2023 panel, Anime Japan 2023 divulged additional details surrounding the production of To Be Hero X. Aniplex and bilibili will work together to produce the donghua. Li Haolin, who directed the original To Be Hero and its sequel To Be Heroine, will direct the upcoming series.

As shown in the trailer, To Be Hero X will feature a combination of 2D and 3D animation. The trailer introduces a sharply dressed young man whose trip to the vending machine to purchase a drink turns into an epic adventure. A group of broad men with gas masks attempt to assault him but with a single snap of his fingers, the man transforms into a 2D white-haired version of himself. He easily avoids every punch and swing without so much as breaking a sweat. A single snap transforms the 2D scene into 3D and vice versa.

Set in a world where “people’s beliefs creates heroes,” To Be Hero X follows X, a mysterious individual who has accrued the most faith from the citizens, as he battles it out against other heroes in an epic tournament.

There is no release date announced yet for To Be Hero X.
