Horimiya Announces New Animation Project to Premiere in July

Horimiya will adapt stories previously not shown in a new series called Horimiya -piece-.

Horimiya fans will have an eventful summer ahead of them with the new upcoming anime.

At Anime Japan 2023, Horimiya announced it will adapt the previous stories that Horimiya did not show in a new series called Horimiya -piece-. The series released a promotional video with snippets from the first anime adaptation to heightens fans’ expectations and a new poster depicting Hori and Miyamura with various items like household items and graduation photos scattered around them to celebrate the announcement.

Written and illustrated by Hiroki Adachi, under the pseudonym Hero, Horimiya, originally called Hori-san to Miyamura-kun, started as a self-publication from February 2007 to December 2011 in a four-panel format. Square Enix licensed the series for a print publication in October 2008 to December 2011. In October 2011, Daisuke Hagiwara adapted the series, renaming it to Horimiya and ended in July 2021.

Horimiya follows two high schoolers, Kyouko Hori and Izumi Miyamura who could not be more different than each other. At school, Hori is beautiful and put together but at home, she’s the one taking care of the house and her little brother. When most people look at Miyamura, they assume he’s a nerd or a closet otaku when in reality he has numerous piercings and tattoos and his fashion can be classified as punk style. When the two accidentally discover the other’s secrets, they promise to keep their lips sealed but as time passes, they get closer to each other.

Horimiya is available to watch on Crunchyroll. Horimiya -piece- airs in July 2023.
