The cover for the third volume of the highly popular danmei crime thriller Silent Reading is out.
Seven Seas unveiled the Vol. 3 cover of Silent Reading where Luo Wenzhou and Fei Du seem to be interrogating someone. The two have a serious expression on their faces as they dive deep into the case. Both the cover and interior illustrations were done by Rylee. Yuka and Nande M translated the series. This volume contains 340 pages.
Written by prolific danmei writer priest, Silent Reading throws two men, Luo Wenzhou and Fei Du, into the thick of an investigation involving the mysterious murder of a young men. Luo Wenzhou, head of the Criminal Investigation Team, discovers this case is not as simple as it appears as he follows clues that lead him into dark corners–and to the cold and enigmatic CEO of the Fei Corporation, Fei Du, who once knew Luo Wenzhou when he was young.
The synopsis is as follows:
When a powerful business magnate dies in a mysterious car crash, the stability of his empire collapses overnight. Days later, his eldest son is kidnapped, forcing Luo Wenzhou and his team into a treacherous investigation where every lead is undermined by the tycoon’s colleagues—and even by his own surviving children.
As the scope of the case widens, Luo Wenzhou must navigate secrets and betrayals worthy of a Shakespearean tragedy.
Fei Du is crucial to the investigation, particularly because he is close friends with another of the businessman’s sons. Luo Wenzhou may still be guessing at Fei Du’s true motivations, but he has no choice: he must work with him on this confounding case—and the partnership may drive him closer to Fei Du than ever before.
Silent Reading has enjoyed a few adaptations, including a five-season audio drama, a canceled donghua adaptation, and a live-action adaptation, called Justice in the Dark, which had its own ups and downs. Starring Zhang Xincheng and Fu Xinbo, the live-action drama was first released in February 2023 with eight episodes but was then unceremoniously taken down before the rest could air in July the same year. The Japanese dubbed version premiered on March 7, 2025 and aired all 30 episodes.
The third volume of Silent Reading releases on June 9.
