Charmander, it’s your time to shine!
Pokémon Horizons has a special Pokémon GO app episode that will premiere as the anime’s 150th episode. The episode will feature many of the game’s elements such as the Poké-stops that spit out Pokéballs and bonuses like berries and Professor Willow. The special episode will also star Charmander wearing Friede’s goggles, and Pokémon GO will get a chance to catch their own Charmander, and its evolutions, with goggles in the game from September 16 to 22.
Pokémon Horizons has teased that the anime will incorporate the franchise’s spinoff games such as Pokémon Unite, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Sleep. Horizons made its premiere in April 2023, marking a monumental change of the guard as the series said goodbye to its longtime protagonist Satoshi (renamed to Ash Ketchum in the English dubs) and welcomed the dual protagonists Liko and Roy.
Friede is a character introduced in the first episode of Horizons when he and his partner Charizard rescue Liko, and has since become an integral part of the group. It appears as though this episode will dive into the two partners’ backstory.
The special episode airs in Japan on September 18.
