Oshi no Ko Announces One-Month Hiatus and Special Chapters
Oshi no Ko will return with Chapter 126 in September. In the meantime, Oshi no Ko will keep fans fed with four new special chapters.
Oshi no Ko may be taking a long break but fans will not be deprived of Oshi no Ko content.
As per Manga Mogura RE, the Oshi no Ko manga will go on hiatus for a little more than a month. Chapter 126 will premiere on Sept. 13, 2023. During this time, four special chapters, titled Oshi no Ko – Interlude will release, focusing on Mem-Cho’s backstory. Mengo Yokoyari, who is in charge of the artwork in the manga, will pen both the story and artwork for the special chapters.
Written by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War) with illustrations by Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish), Oshi no Ko highlights the dark side of the entertainment industry. The story follows obstetrician Dr. Gorou Amamiya who reincarnates into pop idol Ai Hoshino’s son after he gets killed. For a few years, he lives happily with Ai and his new twin sister Ruby as Aqua Hoshino. But after Ai is killed by an obsessed fan, Aqua goes down on a destructive path to find the man who killed Ai and him.
The manga inspired a wildly popular anime adaptation, animated by Doga Kobo. The first season aired in April 2023 for 11 episodes and a second season has been announced. Daisuke Hiramaki directed Season 1 with Jin Tanaka as the scriptwriter. The anime became the most successful premiere on HIDIVE’s history and the opening theme song “Idol,” performed by Yoasobi broke records when it became the first Japanese song to top the Billboard Global chart.
Fans can read Oshi no Ko on Manga Plus. The anime is streamable via HIDIVE.
