Insomniacs After School PV Teases a Sweet Romance Under a Starry Night Sky

Insomniacs After School’s third PV about two high schoolers who can’t sleep unveils its premiere date in April.

Two sleepless high schoolers unexpectedly find comfort, and friendship, in each other’s presence in a new PV for Insomniacs After School.

Released on Anime PONY CANYON’s official YouTube channel, Insomniacs After School dropped its third PV, revealing aiko will sing the opening theme song “Itsu Aetara,” translating to “When Can We Meet” for the anime. Homecomings will sing the ending theme song “Lapse.” Yuki Hayashi, known for composing the music for My Hero Academia and Haikyuu!!, will come on as the composer for the series. Produced by Liden Films (Tokyo Revengers) and directed by Yuki Ikeda (Blade of the Immortal), Insomniacs After School premieres on April 10.

In the trailer, Ganta Nakami, who has trouble falling asleep, sneaks up to his school’s abandoned astronomy observatory to hopefully catch a few “Z’s.” Never did he expect to find Isaki Magari, one of his classmates, who also possesses the same problem as Ganta. The two bond over their shared love and fascination of the night sky. As the two get closer, their friendship deepens and soon blossoms into something more. Gen Satō voices Ganta with Nana More voicing opposite of him as Isaki.

Written and illustrated by Makoto Ojiro, Insomniacs After School began serialization in Shogakukan’s seinen magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits in May 2019. The manga won the Mandō Kobayashi Manga Grand Prix in 2023. Insomniacs After School revealed the production of a live-action adaptation was underway with Chihiro Ikeda directing. The film will premiere in June 2023.

Insomniacs After School premieres on April 10. Viz Media has officially licensed the series for an English release.
