The Remarried Empress was adapted into a manhwa and a live-action series. The only thing it’s missing is an anime adaptation.
Crunchyroll announced during their industry panel that it would stream the anime adaptation of the romance manhwa The Remarried Empress. A special promo trailer was revealed, announcing TROYCA will animate the adaptation, HAYATE will produce, with Tetsuya Yanagisawa directing. Akiko Inoue will oversee the series composition and script. Jun Nakai will design the characters and Yuki Fukazawa will compose.
The voice acting cast was also revealed. Yoko Hikasa will voice Navier. Ryohei Kimura will voice Heinrey, Navier’s second husband. Tomoaki Maeno will portray Sovieshu, Navier’s first husband whom she divorces in the first chapter. Reina Ueda will round out the main cast as Rashta.
The Remarried Empress started as a webnovel by Alphatart, published on Naver. It was later adapted into a webcomic illustrated by Sumpul and published on WEBTOON. Since its debut on September 5, 2020, the webcomic has amassed 2.97 billion views worldwide as of July 2026. The manhwa concluded with 247 episodes on February 14, 2026. Ize Press publishes the manhwa in print.
A live-action drama adaptation, starring Shin Min Ah, Ju Jihoon, Lee Se Young as Rashta, and Lee Jongsuk will premiere on Disney+ and Hulu in November.
WEBTOON describes The Remarried Empress as below:
Navier Ellie Trovi was an empress perfect in every way — intelligent, courageous, and socially adept. She was kind to her subjects and devoted to her husband. Navier was perfectly content to live the rest of her days as the wise empress of the Eastern Empire. That is, until her husband brought home a mistress and demanded a divorce. “I accept this divorce… And I request an approval of my remarriage.” In a shocking twist, Navier remarries another emperor and retains her title and childhood dream as empress. But just how did everything unfold?
The anime adaptation arrives in 2027.
