Hatsune Miku Unites with Grimes, Odetari, George Clanton, and More for Groundbreaking Collaboration EP

Hatsune Miku is going global—and she’s bringing some of the most exciting names in contemporary music with her.

As part of Dwango’s ambitious BEYOND BORDERs project, an international collaboration EP is in the works featuring the virtual singer alongside an all-star roster of Western artists spanning electronic, alternative, hyperpop, rap, and experimental music.

The EP brings together an eclectic mix of acclaimed artists, each contributing original songs featuring Miku as lead vocalist:

  • Grimes
  • slayr
  • MOLIY
  • Odetari
  • George Clanton
  • Frost Children
  • XAMIYA

Behind the music is an equally impressive roster of Grammy-winning and platinum-selling collaborators. Production comes from Grant Boutin (Tate McRae), VADAKIN (Grimes), MOMBRU (Fridayy), Byrd (Bad Bunny), and Xansei (XG). Songwriting contributions include Charles “Scoot” Anderson (Ariana Grande) and Cecile Believe (Charli XCX).

Japan’s celebrated Vocaloid producers jon-YAKITORY, SatapanP, and picco anchor the project, bringing the distinctive sound that built Vocaloid into a global phenomenon.

The project aims to introduce Vocaloid music to a new generation of global listeners, pairing Japan’s most influential Vocaloid producers with American artists in an unprecedented cross-cultural release. The EP is part of Dwango’s broader BEYOND BORDERs initiative, supported by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs.

“Vocaloid culture was born in Japan from the passion of producers making music in their own bedrooms and on their own desktops, and now it’s taking flight on the global stage,” said Gorokiyotake Orimoto, General Manager at Dwango. “Watching it grow into this new form of expression through collaborations with world-renowned artists has been an honor.”

The project will roll out through a series of singles throughout summer 2026, culminating in the full EP release this fall. The artist lineup and official EP trailer were unveiled during Anime Expo in Los Angeles, where fans received an exclusive first listen at the sold-out JAPAN MUSIC VOCALOID showcase featuring kz (livetune), SatapanP, Hachioji-P, picco, and special guest TeddyLoid.

This is one of the most ambitious Vocaloid projects ever conceived—bringing Miku into the orbit of artists who’ve shaped modern pop, electronic, and hyperpop. The singles roll out this summer, with the full EP arriving in fall. Keep your ears open.
