The Apothecary Diaries Introduces New Characters in Second Cour Trailer
The Apothecary Diaries drops a new trailer for the second cour which airs on Jan. 6, 2024.
Two new characters will be greeting fans when The Apothecary Diaries‘ second cour airs.
TOHO Animation dropped a new trailer for the upcoming second cour of The Apothecary Diaries. The second cour welcomes Takuya Kirimoto (Masamune Kido from World Trigger) as Lakan and Kaori Nazuka (Nunnally Lamperouge from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) as Suirei. Uru performs the opening theme song for the second cour “Ambivalent,” while wacci performs the ending theme song “Ai wa Kusuri” which translates to “Love is Medicine.”
Animated and produced by Toho Animation Studio and OLM, Norihiro Naganuma directed and wrote The Apothecary Diaries. Akinori Fudesaka came on as the assistant director while Yukiko Nakatani designed the characters. Satoru Kousaki and Arisa Okehazama collaborated to compose the music for the anime. Aoi Yūki voices Maomao while Takeo Ōtsuka voices Jinshi.
Originally a light novel series written by Natsu Hyūga and illustrated by Touko Shino, The Apothecary Diaries is set in the East where Maomao, the daughter of an apothecary master, is kidnapped to serve in the palace. Although she looks plain and unassuming, Maomao possesses a wealth of knowledge of medicine and has plans to lay low. Her plans explode in her face when the head eunuch Jinshi sees through her facade who soon recruits her to help solve the mysterious in the imperial court.
The first cour of The Apothecary Diaries is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll. The second cour airs on Jan. 6, 2024.
