JJK’s Sukuna Gets Unexpected Ally in Chainsaw Man Cameo

Apparently Chainsaw Man’s Pochita has another dream: to make a cameo in Jujutsu Kaisen.

SPOILERS: Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 17 “Thunderclap, Part 2,” now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Pochita, how could you do this? Wasn’t Denji your best buddy?

Several viewers noticed a rather surprising cameo in the latest episode of Jujutsu Kaisen. In Season 2 Episode 17, titled “Thunderclap, Part 2,” Sukuna faced off against Mahoraga and amidst the flying debris of rocks and shattered concrete, fans noticed what appears to be Chainsaw Man‘s orange pooch Pochita. Despite Pochita’s diminished, albeit adorable, state, many viewers were convinced the devil could take Sukuna — and win.

“Pochita would destroy everyone in the JJK universe,” one commented. Another was certain that “Pochita would’ve beat that bum in 2 seconds.” Another fan took the time to commend the animators for the cameo, writing, “The animators are the goats also for this.” One of the animators of Jujutsu Kaisen revealed they took the floor plan from within MAPPA studio itself to showcase the fight, and commented “The reception from the staff was very good.”

MAPPA, the studio responsible for the animation and production of Jujutsu Kaisen, have recently been under fire. Numerous animators for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 have voiced their frustrations about MAPPA’s tight work schedule and poor pay, resulting in overwork and exhaustion. Animators have also revealed most animated films would require a few years to animate and produce — but Jujutsu Kaisen 0 finished in four months. This is not the first time that MAPPA has faced accusations of overworking its staff.

Aside from Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, the studio recently wrapped up the anime series Attack on Titan. MAPPA has also worked on the popular sports anime Yuri!!! on Ice which brought in international acclaim for its portrayal of a gay relationship between the two main characters. The studio has also produced Hell’s Paradise, The God of High School, and Dorehedoro.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
